New Video Series: DaVinci Resolve in 3 Minutes + ProRes on Windows?!

DaVinci Resolve in 3 Minutes
I’ve launched a new video series called DaVinci Resolve in 3 Minutes. Each video dives into one tool or feature—quick, clear, and full of info without wasting your time.
The first one covers PowerGrades and the gallery on the color page. It shows how to reuse looks across projects and speed up your color workflow.
I’m loving this format and having a blast making tutorials again. Expect a lot more to drop soon!
DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4 Update Just Dropped – Right Before NAB!
Big news: ProRes encoding now works on Windows and Linux! That’s right—no more Mac-only limits. Plus, the Proxy Generator got the ProRes boost too, making workflows smoother across platforms.
Other cool stuff includes support for Samsung Log LUTs and Blackmagic RAW SDK 4.5. They also fixed issues with Dolby audio files, Canon RAW ISO, and ARRI RAW playback. It’s all about better stability and smoother performance.
This update also improved handling for AAF files and fixed audio bugs in multicam and interlaced tape recordings.

How They Made Scar King for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire
Scar King’s wild look and creepy moves came from mixing motion capture with hand animation. His long arms and beastly speed meant animators had to get creative—think orangutan, spider monkey, and gibbon combined.
To make his bone whip feel real, the team used keyframes plus simulations. For action scenes, gymnasts and fight pros acted out moves. A special rig helped with the zero-gravity scenes, making every flip and spin feel weightless.
His red war paint? That was tricky. Since his fur is also red, the team had to tweak how light and color worked on him so it popped just right. Add muscle simulations under the skin, and Scar King looked terrifyingly real.
