New Tools & Techniques: DaVinci Resolve, Mobile Editing, & More!

This week, we’re covering DaVinci Resolve 18.5 Beta 3, the updated Raw Converter app for iOS, Instagram’s new Edits app, and three essential tips you can use immediately. Let’s get started!
DaVinci Resolve 18.5 Beta 3
Using DaVinci Resolve 20? Beta 3 is out! It has many bug fixes. If you’re using the beta I would look into getting the update. Here is what was updated.
Raw Convertor App Goes Mobile!
The Raw Convertor app just got a big upgrade! Version 6.0.0 lets you change ProRes RAW videos to CinemaDNG on iPhones and iPads. This is great for using raw video in DaVinci Resolve.
The update adds cool stuff like saving your settings, seeing info about your cameras, and a “resume” button to pick up where you left off. It also shows you details about your videos.
Now you can convert videos on your iPhone or iPad! You’ll get alerts when conversions finish or have problems. It’s much easier to use now, too!
Instagram’s New Edits App Is Now Out
Instagram just launched a new video editing app called Edits! It’s made for short videos like Reels. It’s easy to use and keeps everything in one place.
Edits lets you shoot videos directly in the app. You can make long videos (up to 10 minutes) in high quality. No watermark or anything like that.
You can add music, text, and cool effects. It’s a simple app for making great short videos. It’s free on phones.
This Weeks “In 3 Minutes”
Data Burn-in: I showed how to add data like timecodes and watermarks directly to your video without adding it to your timeline! It’s a neat trick and great for when you need to send out client reviews as you don’t need to change or add anything to the timeline.
Fusion Modifiers: Fusion modifiers are awesome! They let you customize nodes easily and share settings between them. It makes your work much simpler.
Fairlight Audio Bouncing: Save your system and render audio effects when they get heavy and hard to play back in real time! Fairlight’s “bounce” feature helps a lot! It’s like making a new audio file with all the effects already added. It’s great for complex audio.
Keep creating, stay curious, and never stop pushing your creative boundaries!
Stay creative,
