How to Install .mfont Files for Motion Typeface Manager
Step 1: Make sure you have Motion Typeface Manager Core installed first.
Step 2: Copy the .mfont File to the Typeface Library Folder
Drag and drop the .mfont
file into the designated Typeface Library folder.
macOS
- All users:
/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Scripts/Comp/Motion Typeface/Typeface Library
- Specific user:
/Users/<UserName>/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Scripts/Comp/Motion Typeface/Typeface Library

Step 3: Start Motion Typeface Manager
Launch the Motion Typeface Manager to automatically detect the new typeface.
Step 4: Activate the Typeface (If Required)
If the typeface is not already activated:
- Open the Motion Typeface Manager.
- Select Activate/Deactivate Typeface.
- Enter the activation code provided.
Once activated, your typeface is ready to use!
Main Controls
The Main Controls node has all the controls for the full glyphs you write. After clicking write in the motion typeface manager you should see the necessary notes get brought into your fusion composition. Click on MainControl to see all of the controls for this typeface.
Clicking on MainControl will show the options below in the inspector.
Animation
The first control in the main controls, Animation Input
, takes a value from 0 to 100.
100
: Fully on.0
: Completely off.- Purpose: This control allows you to set the duration of the glyph animation for a single glyph rather than the full animation.
Note
If you are using Motion Typeface Manager Pro with a time offset, remember that this controls the animation time of a single glyph, not the full animation.
Color Controls

Color Input 1: Set color for wipe

Color Input 2: Set color for wipe

Color Input 3: Sets the primary glyph color.

Color Input 4: Set the circle color.
Note
Each glyph has a custom color control at the glyph level.
Circle Width
The thickness of the circle
Pro Controls
Controls from Motion Typeface Manager Pro
Center
Allows you to adjust the XY location of your typeface.
Tracking
Adds additional spacing between glyphs while accounting for kerning.
Line Spacing
Defines the space between each line of text. - Clarification: This is the spacing between lines of characters (e.g., the vertical spacing between rows of text).
Info
This is distinct from Line Width
and the Line Input
discussed above. Line Spacing
specifically deals with vertical spacing between lines of text.
Time Offset
Offsets the animation input for each glyph by a specified number of frames.
Tip
Typically, a range of 2 to 4 frames provides optimal results.
Align
Aligns each row of text. Options include: Left, Right, Center
Warning
This option works if more than one line of text has been created.
